This engine is a further development on the basis of the tried and tested liquid-cooled DEUTZ TCD 2012 engine series and essentially consists of a DEUTZ Common Rail System DCR for optimal atomisation and combustion of the rapeseed oil fuel, a 2-tank system with automatic changeover from diesel or bio-diesel to rapeseed oil, as well as the patented DEUTZ Fuel Management DFM. The release is restricted to rapeseed oil in accordance with DIN 51605 (cold-pressed and refined product). Instead of normal diesel according to DIN EN 590, the vehicle can also be operated with bio-diesel according to DIN EN 14214. These engines are available in the tractors of the firms AGCO Fendt (FENDT 820 Vario Greentec) and DEUTZ-Fahr (Agrotron Natural Power).

Perfectly equipped for the future

The greatest challenge which our industry is facing today is the implementation of the exhaust emissions law. Since 1996 regulations have been introduced in Europe and the USA which systematically reduce the quantity of pollutants in the exhaust gases of diesel engines. One special challenge for DEUTZ is to make the exhaust gas treatment technology which has been introduced in this connection suitable for the application of biogenic fuels.
