Getting ahead with DEUTZ

DEUTZ presented itself as a pioneer at Agritechnica 2009 in Hannover.

A special highlight was awaiting the visitors at this year’s Agritechnica in Hannover: DEUTZ presented a completely new engine series under the preliminary type classification 20XX. The ultra compact 4-cylinder engine series with a displacement of 2.9 litres was developed specially for the market requirements of the performance classes from 28-55.9 kW. The 20XX series naturally complies with the requirements of emission legislation EU level IV, as well as US EPA Tier 4, which will apply to diesel engines in mobile working machinery from 2014 onwards in Europe and North America. The Tier 4 engines - the main focus of the DEUTZ stand at the trade fair – proved how forward-looking DEUTZ is in terms of emission legislation.

At the world’s largest agricultural engineering trade fair, DEUTZ presented their portfolio of engines for agricultural technology in the performance classes 28-500 kW which meet the interim Tier 4 emission standards that come into effect from 2011 for engines from 130 kW upwards. With the modular “DVERT” (DEUTZ Variable Emission Reduction Technology) system kits, DEUTZ presented integrated system solutions combining engine and emission technology, striking the right balance between the new more stringent emission limits and the requirements of customers. Visitors were able to take a close-up look here at the individual components of the “DVERT” system such as the burner and the EGR system.

But that was not all. The agricultural machinery manufacturer Fendt, who have worked together with DEUTZ for many decades, presented their new 800 Vario large tractor that, thanks to the AdBlue engine technology from DEUTZ, is the first tractor to meet level 3B standards. The highly mobile Vario equipped with the very latest engine technology is an all-round talent for use in the agricultural sector. The DEUTZ 6-cylinder TCD 2012 engine forms the tractor’s strong diesel heart and makes for uncompromising efficiency and delivers maximum performance. The 6-cylinder water-cooled inline engine has been perfectly adapted to the Fendt Vario gear box and has an extremely high performance density with a nominal engine speed of 2,100 rpm at 203 kW. The 6.06 litre engine equipped with DEUTZ Common Rail (DCR) technology with high-pressure injection - injection pressure of up to 2000 bar - has two high-pressure injection pumps integrated into the crankcase. This guarantees high performance with low levels of noise emission. In combination with SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction), the common rail injection technology is able to comply with the exhaust emission standard 3B (corresponds to the American Tier 4 interim standards) even before its official introduction on 1st January 2011.
