A night with DEUTZ

Night owls who are interested in technology had the opportunity again this year to acquaint themselves with companies in Cologne as part of the "Night of Technology". Around 600 visitors took the chance of looking behind the scenes at DEUTZ AG until midnight. A guided tour around the pilot plant with its more than 50 exhibits provided them at the beginning with an insight into the history of combustion engine construction. A particular highlight here was the two engines from the beginning of this era that are still in working order, the atmospheric gas engine, engine no. 1 from 1867, as well as the first operational four stroke engine from the year 1876, which were started up at regular intervals for groups of visitors during the evening and which caused a fair number of heart-stopping moments with their loud "ignition moment".

It was only possible in advance to book participation in the special guided tours about the production gallery. More than 80 participants had registered in advance and were able to take part in three guided tours showing the route by which an engine is manufactured.

Young people who were interested in an apprenticeship at DEUTZ were also able to ask for advice on site. At an information booth of the DEUTZ apprenticeship workshop, trainers and trainees provided information about application procedures and possible skilled trades.
